?The organizing committee of the 2015 Mini Olympics and representatives from the Ministry of Education had a coordinating meeting to discuss ways of cooperation to ensure the success of the event, scheduled to commence next month.
The second edition of the Olympics is due to be held from 1 March until April 30. It is organized by the BOC in cooperation with the Education Ministry and the sports associations.
During the meeting, chaired by organising committee chairman Lounes Madene, both parties reviewed possible ways of coordination as the organizing committee made a presentation on the main objectives of the Mini Olympics.
The Mini Olympics aims to spread and promote the values and principles of the Olympic among government and private schools in the Kingdom, and motivate them to practice sports activities and follow a healthy life style.
Both sides also discussed the suitable mechanism to identify the eligible players to participate in this event, and decided the referees managing each competition.
Other recommendations brought up at the meeting included the possibility of appointing a medical staff for the swimming events, and to run medical tests on the students to compete in this discipline, as well as inviting clubs and sports associations to attend the games.
There were six competition set for this year’s edition, football, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, athletics and swimming.
This event features cultural programmes and field visits to national teams training as well as meetings with Olympic heroes in an attempt to boost their morale and achieve the aspirations in future Olympics
