?The draw for the cricket tournament at this month’s Fourth School Mini Olympics was recently staged at the National Stadiums Conference Hall in Riffa.
The fourth edition of the games, scheduled to run from March 16 to 30 and involves government and private schools from all over Bahrain, will feature the inclusion of cricket for the first time this year.
A purpose-formed committee, tasked at preparing for the games, also discussed other subjects at the meeting, such as the rules and regulations of all sports involved at the games, in addition to the services to be offered by the committee to the participants and the programme of the opening ceremony.
The Mini Olympics is organized by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, with more than 2,000 students expected to compete in 14 sports events, including football, basketball, volleyball and handball.
The remaining sports confirmed are table tennis, athletics cricket, hockey, swimming, water sports, gymnastics, taekwondo, jiu jitsu and karting.
Present at this meeting were Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee general secretary Abdulrahman Askar, Preparatory Committee chairman Lounes Madene, Public Relations head Mohammed Ala Balooshi, other organizing committee members and representatives of the sports federation involved at the Mini Olympics.
