?Bahrain Football Association president Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa said the School Mini Olympics, organized by the Bahrain Olympic Committee in cooperation with the Education Ministry from March 8 to 22, is a major contributor to beefing up sports clubs and national teams in different sports.
Shaikh Ali said the event reflects the support of the committee, headed by Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty King Hamad Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman.
He noted that the BOC initiatives play a major part in the development of Bahrain sports, and is in line with the aspirations of Shaikh Nasser, adding that this year’s School Mini Olympics will see larger entries from students from all over Bahrain.
On his part, technical committee head Fadi Humaidan said the sports federations involved at this year’s School Mini Olympics are major partners in organizing their respective activities during the event.
Humaidan said the sports supervisors are in contact with the standing committees as they attend the coordination meetings prior to the competitions kick off, in addition to their role in preparing the matches results and submitting the final reports right after the matches.
Elsewhere, the Information Technology committees has completed updating its dedicated website that will offer latest date on the Fifth School Mini Olympics.
Committee head Zainab Hussain said a number of preparatory and coordination meetings were staged over the past few days to put the final touches on the website, in an attempt to provide any needed information.
Ismail Abdullatif, Muharraq Club and national team football striker, said the School Mini Olympics is a wonderful opportunity to discover new sports talents, and that school sport has always been a supporting party for many sports clubs and national team in Bahrain.
He stressed the importance of this event to continue on annual basis, and develop its programmes, in order to achieve significant benefits for sports in Bahrain.
Hussain Ali, another former international football ace and present Al Shabab Club forward, said the mini Olympics programme is a crucial step in the right direction. He noted that the event promotes the students sports skills and contributes to the development of schools activities, in specific, and sports in general.
