?The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) has initiated its series of meetings with national sports associations as part of its strategy to promote cooperation and coordination with recently-formed association to ensure smooth conduct of financial, administrative and technical proceedings.
Meetings with five associations – disabled sports, shooting, golf, swimming, badminton and squash were held recently, with more gatherings with similar appointed parties to be staged soon.
BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar said these meetings are being held for the first time, and feature discussions on the financial and administrative reports of 2014 as well as the budget for 2015.
Askar noted that the committee looks to activate its Supervisory role towards these associations, which don’t have general assemblies, by providing all means of support in order for the latter to do their tasks fully.
Other issues being reviewed at these meetings are the associations’ respective strategies as well as the plans and programmes set up to prepare the national teams for upcoming overseas competitions.
BOC will continue to hold its periodic meetings with the appointed associations in accordance to their timetable set up by its Sports Affairs Directorate.
