?Korean’s preparations to host the 2018 Winter Olympic Games have been received at the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports deputy general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee general secretary Abdulrahman Askar’s meeting with His Excellency the Korean Ambassador to Bahrain Hyunmo Koo in Seef.
Askar welcomed the ambassador and was presented with latest arrangements made by the Korean Republic to host the prestigious event, which is scheduled to run from February 9 to 25 in PyeongChang.
On his part, His Excellency Hyunmo Koo revealed the vision of PyeongChang for the 2018 Games, which is to offer the Olympic Movement and the world of winter sports New Horizons – a legacy of new growth and new potential never seen before.
His Excellency the ambassador added that the games offers a unique stage on which the world’s best athletes can achieve superior performances, and noted PyeongChang’s strategic position in Asia, and its access to a young and fast growing youth market, which will help the games expose new generations of potential athletes to the power of winter sport.
His Excellency commended the efforts of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and BOC President, in the development of sports in Bahrain, and said he looks forward to enhance the prospects of joint cooperation between the two countries.
