?Nine promising young kids showed some exceptional football skills at one of the Southern Governorate’s Al Hajjiyat fields as part of the ‘Al Firjan Playgrounds’ initiative, aimed to promote sport among youngsters and pick up future stars of the world’s most popular game.
A committee, formed by initiative developers the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) and is tasked at supervising the process of this project, continued to make their programmed visits to a number of football playgrounds in different parts of Bahrain.
In this visit, committee representatives Hamad Mohammed and Mohammed Sulaiman, along with chief former national team star Marjan Eid, Southern Governorate’s Municipal Council member Abdulla Abdullatif and the media team, visited kids at East Riffa’s playgrounds and met with young football hopefuls while encouraging them to continue play football.
The team also performed a short practice match for the kids, which was conducted by Hamad Mohammed and Marjan Eid. Late on, the players received footballs as incentive gifts donated by BOC.
This gesture was well admired by the kids and their youngsters who thanked BOC and the team for their efforts to activate the project, and expressed their motivation to continue playing football and hoped to represent one of the national clubs and the national team in the future.
On his part, Abdullatif thanked the committee for developing such a programme, which targets the revival of football playgrounds in all cities and villages of the Kingdom of Bahrain.
He pointed out that this initiative will contribute to boosting the game in the neighborhoods and attract the largest number of children, which opens the way to discover the largest possible number of talents and become eligible to represent their desired sports clubs and the national team.
