?Bahrain Handball Association president and Bahrain Olympic Committee member Ali Isa Isaaqi has won an additional post by becoming a new member of the Asian Handball Federation.This was announced yesterday (OCT. 26) following the Asian Handball Federation elections in Doha, where Isaaq was delcared latest member of the continental federation’s board.Isaaqi was congratulated by high-ranking Bahraini sports officials, including Bahrain Olympic Committee acting general secretary Abdulrahman Askar.Askar said that electing Isaaqi was a culmination of his hard efforts over the past years in serving handball in all areas, and underlines his abilities and efficiency.Askar also noted that Isaaqi is an extra boost for handball in Asia, considering his great experience and communications which he established long ago.He said that Isaaq winning this important post for Bahrain coincides with the Kingdom’s success in winning its bid to host the next Asian Championship, which also doubles as a qualifying competition for the 2015 World Cup finals.Kuwait’s Shaikh Ahmad Al Fahad Al Sabah, meanwhile, was elected as president of the Asian Handball Federation.Since 1991 the Shaikh Ahmed has been the president of this continental association and his vice-president will stay Ahmed Mohamed Al Shaabi from Qatar.The new general secretary was elected as well. The election was won by the president of the handball association of Pakistan, Mohammad Shafiq.
