?The Isa bin Rashid Voluntary Award ceremony is all set for today to honour a number of former sports personnel who made key contributions to the development of their respective sports.
The function, to be held as part of a ceremony themed ‘Loyalty Night’, is organised by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) and is due to tip off at 6.30pm at the Sofitel Hotel in Zallaq.
This year’s edition of the award will be given to the founding presidents and members of the sports associations to officials who served at sports associations, as well as to a group of national sports media representatives in appreciation to their efforts.
The ceremony will be held under the patronage Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and BOC president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
The organizing committee of the ceremony, headed by BOC acting general secretary Abdulrahman Askar, has approved the programme of the ceremony and the list of honorees.
They include former Bahrain Football Association president the Late Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and ex-members the Late Saif Al Musalam, the Late Hashim Al Sada, the Late Ahmed Al Shomeli and Abdulla Al Sheroogi.
Other honorees are former members of the volleyball, swimming, athletics, basketball, table tennis, handball, weightlifting and bodybuilding association.
The organizing committee of the ceremony will also take this opportunity to launch the official website of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.
