?Bahrain Olympic Committee’s (BOC) International Affairs Director Fajer Jassim recently received a diploma certificate as she returned from Athens where she participated in the 54th international session of young members of the International Olympic Academy (IOA).
Fajer collected the her certificate from President of the Academy Isidoros Kuvelos during the closing ceremony of the session, which saw around 200 representatives of 96 countries, including 13 instructors, taking part.
Staged at the IOA premises in Ancient Olympia, the Olympic Values was the main subject of the session, with its special subject being “Olympic Values: Respect for diversity”.
The IOA brought together a large international group of young people who are primarily students, Olympic athletes, people active in sport, teaching or active in their respective NOCs or NOAs.
During her presence, Fajer presented a copy of the guide book titled ‘Between Bahrain’ to the IOA library in an attempt to introduce the history of Bahrain to library goers. She also made a presentation on the BOC experience in organizing the School Olympics in cooperation with the Education Ministry.
Fajer said the session was beneficial to her as it covered a number of sports, recreational and educational programmes aimed at instilling the principles of Olympism, and looking into the latest on the Olympic Movement.
She added that the session’s objective is to motivate young people to use their experiences and knowledge gained from the Session productively in promoting the Olympics Ideals and educating others in their own countries.
The international session was held on the sidelines of the IOA Annual Forum, organized from June 15 to 29 in Athens. Two participants from each country from across the world were brought together to exchange experience and knowledge.
