The committee began its preparation for the ceremony, as acting general secretary Abdulrahman Askar chaired the initial meeting of the organizing committee, and directed all committee members to setup necessary arrangements.
During the meeting, all parties discussed a number of ideas and proposals aimed at highlighting the ceremony in appreciation with the great contributions  of the awardees during their career.
On this occasion, Askar said this celebration is in compliance with the directives of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, stressing the keenness of Bahrain Olympic Committee to honor the administrators and journalists who worked for many years serving the sports movement in the Kingdom and setting up the foundation of this sector, which has seen dramatic expansion in the last decade through the achievements of multi-national teams in various overseas events.
Askar said that this honor is a tribute to the great efforts and services provided by those media representatives who have been keen to develop sport in Bahrain, which indeed has resulted in the flourishing of local sports and its reaching highest levels, stressing that the pioneers of the sports movement in the Kingdom deserve a special honor in order to constitute a motive booster for the coming generations.
