?The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) has signed an agreement with CleanUp Bahrain to provide best ways to recycle consumed electronic items in an attempt to conserve environment.
The deal was in line with the initiative of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and BOC President, to implement the Green Policy.
Mai Albinkhalil, BOC secretary general office director, signed the agreement with CleanUp Bahrain founder Ali Al Qaseer at the committee offices in Seef area.
In an official statement, Albinkhalil noted that all expired an unusable electronics, including computers, tv sets, office phones and other items will be sent for recycling at selected factories.
“Since the initiation of the ‘Green Policy’, we have developed a series of ideas that aim at using environmentally friendly means. The Bahrain Olympic Committee has made great strides in this area in following the directives of His Highness Shaikh Nasser, Especially as preserving environment is one of the main objectives of the International Olympic Committee’s Olympic movement.
Founded on October 22, 2016, CleanUp Bahrain is a volunteer group of Bahraini youths that aims to clean beaches around the kingdom. Its main objective is to raise awareness to Bahrain’s overgrowing pollution issues.
Late on, the group has turned into an officially registered nongovernment organization in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Cleanup Bahrain aims to make people the society more environmentally conscious, by reflecting that on their daily habits.
Also present at the meeting were BOC representatives Wafa Qanati and Mohammed Bashayreh, in addition to CleanUp Bahrain members Ali Al Qaseer, Ruqaya Hashim and Salman Farooq.
