?A project to activate the girls sports centres has been the focus of attention for the Northern Governorate in an attempt to involve young women in a variety of sports activities and build a solid foundation for a better future of Bahrain sports.
This project was discussed at a meeting attended by Supreme Council for Youth and Sports deputy general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar and Northern Governor Ali bin Abdulhussain Al Asfoor.
This meeting, also attended by BOC board member and women’s sport committee chairwoman Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports representative Rashid Al Zayani, brought up several points and recommendations to prepare the activation of such a project at the governorate.
Askar thanked the governor for his support to the initiative of the BOC to bring such facilities to the governorate, and expressed the committee’s willingness to further strengthen community partnership with different segments of the Bahrain society.
He noted that the main objective of this idea is to allow young athletes explore their skills and select the most talented ones to beef up sports clubs and national teams.
Askar added that a committee has been formed for this particular project. It is headed by Rashid Al Zayani and includes representatives of Bahrain’s all five governorates.
