Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) secretary general Mohammed Al Nusuf has congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa after Bahrain winning the West Asian Football Championship in Iraq.
Bahrain clinched the prestigious trophy for the first time after defeating hosts country Iraq 1-0 in the final match held at Karbala International Stadium on Wednesday in front of a 30,000 full-house crowd.
He also expressed his congratulations to His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier.
Al Nusuf asserted the significant role of His Majesty’s Representative for Charity and Youth Sports, and Supreme Council for Youth and Sport (SCYS) Chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa in this historic achievement.
He noted the continued support of SCYS first deputy chairman and BOC president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa as well as the efforts of the Bahrain Football Association, led by president Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa.
The BOC secretary general commended the players for their dedication and determination, which enabled them to triumph, and also noted the contributions of the team’s administrative and technical staff.
