?A first-of-its-kind Jet Ski Drag Race Championship in Bahrain has been set to take place on February 13 to coincide with the National Action Charter day.
This day-long competition is organized by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) and is set to be staged at Port Marine 1, in Durrat Marina.
The Bahrain Maritime Sports Association’s Competitions Committee, headed by Shaikh Rashid bin Yousef Al Khalifa, has opened registration for those interested to take part.
According to Competitions Committee member Bader Hassan, there are 45 participants signed up so far for the event. Registration will close today (Friday) at 8am.
The event is scheduled to commence at 9.30pm with a festivity march from Port Marina 1 towards Marina Port 2.
A meeting will then take place at 10.30 to introduce the race regulations to the participants, while the actual race will begin at 11am with qualifying races. The closing ceremony will be at 4.30pm.
Hassan said the main purpose of the race is to let the community engage and interact on the National Action Charter day, which falls on February 14 every year.
He noted that other events have been approved on the sidelines of the main event, such as a charity local market, a dg music show and some children activities.
