?Bahrain’s national fencing teams made a remarkable achievement at the Arab Championship in Amman, in Jordan.
The nationals, represented in the under-14 and under1-18 age categories clinched 16 medals in total – including four gold, four silver and eight bronze – amidst stiff challenge with some of the region’s best fencing players in the fray.
On arrival at Bahrain International Airport, the teams were welcomed by high-ranking sports officials, headed by Bahrain Olympic Committee general secretary Abdulrahman Askar.
Also present at the reception ceremony were Bahrain Fencing Association president Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa, as well as other association board members and BOC sports federations affairs director Hisham Al Blooshi.
Askar congratulated the players and conveyed the greetings and best wishes of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the king for charity works and youth affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman, and BOC president.
The BOC general secretary also noted the advanced level of the under-14 and under-18 teams, who are the future of the Bahrain fencing, and wished them progress.
