?Bahrain Olympic Committee’s (BOC) International Affairs Director Fajer Jassim recently attended the opening ceremony of the 54th international session of young members of the International Olympic Academy (IOA), being held in Athens.
Fajer is among 200 participants from 96 countries, taking part in the works of the Session which takes place in the IOA premises in Ancient Olympia and concludes on June 28. The main subject of the Session is “Olympic Values” and its special subject is “Olympic Values: Respect for diversity”.
The international session is being held on the sidelines of the IOA Annual Forum taking place from June 15-29 in Athens, bringing together two participants from each country from across the world on the expenses of IOA where they will exchange experience and knowledge. 
The IOA brings together a large international group of young people who are primarily students, Olympic athletes, people active in sport, teaching or active in their respective NOCs or NOAs.
The aim of the IOA is to educate, but more importantly, to motivate young people to use their experiences and knowledge gained from the Session productively in promoting the Olympics Ideals and educating others in their own countries.
Also during the session, the First Lady of Azerbaijan, member of the Executive Board of the NOC, Mehriban Aliyeva, was awarded a special Olympic Excellence award.
The president of the Academy, Isidoros Kuvelos, thanked Mrs. Aliyeva for her close attention to the development of the Olympic movement. In 2015 Azerbaijan will host the first European Games and Mehriban Aliyeva is chairing the organizing committee of the Games.
