The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) yesterday (Thursday) signed an agreement with the Bahrain Journalists Association’s (BJA) Sport Media Committee in an attempt to strengthen the principle of community partnership in the kingdom.
BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar and BJA board chairman Moanes Al Mardi signed the deal, in the presence of representatives of both parties at the committee premises in Seef.
The function was also held in the presence of Sports Media Committee head Mohammed Qassim, as well as sports editors of local publications – Aqeel Al Sayed (Al Ayam), Ahmed Karim (Al Bilad), Ibrahim Al Badri (Al Watan), in addition to directors and senior officials at BOC.
Under this convention, the Sports Media Committee will choose its own media representatives to attend various sports events on the regional, continental and Olympic Games levels that are under direct supervision of the BOC.
On this occasion, BOC General Secretary Abdulrahman Askar expressed pride for initiating this cooperation, which has made great strides in achieving excellence and brilliance with its distinctive activities and programs that played a significant role in promoting the presence of Bahraini sports media on the local, regional, continental and global levels.
The BOC has already activated its bilateral cooperation with the sports media committee before this agreement when the latter was given the green light to choose the media delegation for the second GCC Games hosted by Dammam, in Saudi Arabia in October, 2015.
On his part, Al Mardi valued the keenness of the Bahrain Olympic Committee on this fruitful cooperation with the BJA in order to achieve common interests between the two parties. He pointed out that this agreement will have positive influence on the sports movement in the kingdom of Bahrain.
