?High-ranking officials from the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) recently returned from Brazil where they witnessed some of the preparations undertaken by the organizing committee of the 2016 Olympic Games.
BOC acting general secretary Abdulrahman Askar and BOC Technical Director Lounes Madene were invited to attend an open day, organised by the Rio 2016 Organising Committee for heads of the Olympic delegations, to brief them on the duties and tasks of the Games working committees.
It was the largest open day for National Olympic Committees yet when 31 delegates from 15 countries visited the city last week.
The visitors were updated on the project during a series of presentations at the committee’s headquarters, taken to see the competition sites and had the chance to share ideas during the event on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Other National Olympic Committees’ present were China, Belgium, Great Britain, Ireland, Saudi Arabia, Poland, Australia, New Zealand, Qatar, Oman, Turkmenistan, Angola, Barbados,
The event was the fourth NOC open day held by Rio 2016. The previous event was held last November. The fifth Rio 2016 NOC open day will take place in October, while Rio 2016 will host its first National Paralympic Committee open day in May.
