?Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) acting general secretary Abdulrahman Askar yesterday arrived in Amman yesterday (March 24) to attend the GCC National Olympic Committees’ general secretaries meeting taking place today.
During the meeting, to be also attended by general secretaries of the Jordanian, Yemenis and Moroccan national Olympic committees, a number of topics will be highlighted, including discussions on Jordan, Yemen and Morocco joining the GCC sports system.
This meeting will be held in compliance to the decision of the GCC National Olympic Committees’ presidents, who directed the Executive Committee to look into the requests of the three non-GCC nations to enter the sport union.
The Executive Committee seeks to discuss all legal and administrative frameworks related to this matter in order to enhance mutual cooperation in the field of sports.
It’s worth noting that the Republic of Yemen has made debut in the 17th edition of the Gulf Cup football tournament held in Doha in 2004 as per decision of the GCC countries’ leaders, as the three non-GCC countries look to integrate and participate in various sports competitions organized in the Arabian Gulf region.
