?Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) yesterday (May 5) hosted a ceremony to honour distinguished members of the national sports federations to mark the Labour Day occasion.
The function, held at the committee premises in Seef, was attended by BOC acting general secretary Abdulrahman Askar, who presented the awards to representatives of 28 sports federations in appreciation to their efforts and contributions.
Also during the ceremony, Askar presented commemorative awards to members of the BOC in an appreciation to their significant roles and giving.
Speaking on this occasion, Askar congratulated the honorees, and noted that this event was in line with the directives of BOC president and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, as well as Supreme Council general secretary and BOC vice-president Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa.
Askar added that the BIC and national sports federations are regarded as one body, with each party completing the other, and both seek one goal which is achieving honorable results for the kingdom.
The BOC acting general secretary also lauded the efforts exerted by the national sports federations staff, and hoped that this function would be an extra motive for them to continue their giving in an attempt to develop work at their respective federations.
