?The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) is considering an increment in the national sports clubs’ financial allocations, it was announced yesterday (Oct. 9).This came during the BOC’s General Assembly proposals study committee meeting held at its premises in Seef District. The meeting was chaired by committee acting general secretary Abdulrahman Askar, in the presence of high-ranking officials from five sports associations.They include Bahrain Cycling Association president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Bahrain Football Association vice-president Ali Al Buainain and Bahrain Table Tennis Association vice-president Ali Al Madeh.Also present were Bahrain Handball Association general secretary Khalid Al Najem, Bahrain Basketball Association executive director Ahmed Al Kooheji and BOC Sports Affairs acting executive director Hisham Al Balooshi.Askar said the meeting comes within the framework of the BOC keenness to interact with all the proposals presented by the sports federations and aim to achieve public interest for Bahrain sport. He praised the prominent role of all the national associations for the development of the sports movement in the kingdom.He said the meeting covered the suggestions submitted by both the basketball and table tennis associations to increase financial allocations for clubs that had won domestic titles, noting that the committee has examined several options for the implementation of this proposal.He pointed out that the committee will continue its meetings until they reach an agreement, and thanked the association for their proposal, which underlines their awareness of the importance of supporting national clubs which serves as the core to support youth and sports movement in the Kingdom.On their part, members of the committee expressed appreciation and gratitude to the Bahrain Olympic Committee for backing them in submitting such proposals, which reflects their great keenness to support the sports associations and meet all their needs and requirements to do their part to serve the Bahraini clubs.
