?The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) has invited all its staff to attend the deciding FIFA Presidency elections taking place in Zurich, in Switzerland today (Friday).
President of the Asian Football Confederation Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa of Bahrain and UEFA secretary general Gianni Infantino of Switzerland will go head to head at the extraordinary congress as they are the favorites to succeed Sepp Blatter as FIFA president.
But they’re not the only people in contention to sit in football’s most senior position, with Jerome Champagne, Tokyo Sexwale and Prince Ali bin al-Hussein also in the running.
BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar welcomed all the committee representatives to gather at the Downtown Rotana Hotel in Manama today to support Shaikh Salman’s most vital challenge in his career, and wished him success.
This initiative is in line with the directives of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Work and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and President of the Bahrain Olympic Committee.
It is also part of the committee’s commitment to support national figures in the field of sports to establish strong partnership in an attempt to contribute to achieve their aspirations.
Askar extended his appreciation and gratitude to the private sector for helping the BOC fulfil their plan, specially Downtown Rotana Hotel and Janahi Design Company.
