?The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) and representatives of the national sports associations recently had discussions on the amendments made on the latter’s statutes.
The discussions were held during a meeting at the National Stadium Conference Hall in Riffa, where both sides had talks on the updates made on the sports associations statutes as well as the as well as the consolidated financial bylaw of the sports associations, and the national teams overseas participations bylaw.
BOC Sports Affairs executive director Jehad Khalfan headed the committee side at meeting, which was also attended by BOC human and financial resources executive director Ali Zubari, sports advisor Jalil Assad, legal advisor Salah Khedr and other committee directors.
It was also attended by representatives of 22 out of the existing 27 sports associations, which include football, athletics, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, swimming, weightlifting and bodybuilding, equestrian and endurance.
The remaining associations representatives were from badminton and squad, bowling, cycling, tennis, martial arts, shooting, sports for disabled, sport for all, snooker and billiard, maritime sports, motor sports, gymnastics and triathlon.  
Commenting on this occasion, BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar said these amendments come to fit with modern requirements in the sports field.
He noted that financial bylaw of the sports associations and the national teams overseas participations bylaw were not approved yet.
Askar added that the main objective of this gathering was to listen to the suggestions and any recommendation from the sports associations officials and discuss them in the next BOC board meeting.
