?Under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and BOC president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, a Charity Walk is set to take place today (OCT. 5), marking the first anniversary of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.The event is organised by the British Embassy in Bahrain, in partnership with the Bahrain Olympic Committee, and is open for both able-bodied and children with disabilities. The walkathon (around 3 km in length) is open to all – from 11 years and above.Set to take place at Prince Khalifa bin Salman Park in Al Hidd, the charity walk will commence at 4pm and will continue until 6pm when the awarding ceremony takes place.Event director Adnan Al Qassab said the organising committee has finalised all its arrangements ahead of this festival. For those interested to take part, registration starts from 3pm today at the event venue.”This event aims to connect disabled kids and youth to the inspirational power of the games to ingrates sports in their daily lives and promote the values of equality, peace and reconciliation through sports,” said Al Qassab.Al Qassab noted that the organizing committee also made necessary arrangements with the Bahrain Specialists Hospital and the Bahrain Royal Hospital to provide ambulance vehicles at the race location.A an entertaining programme has been approved for this special occasion, including a singing and dancing performances, as well as a DJ show playing the original music from the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2012 London Olympics, from 3pm until 8pm.For further information on the event, contact Alqassab on mobile 39132102, or email: adnan.alqassab@gmail.com.
