?Bahraini long-distance runner Tejitu Daba won on Sunday the first edition of the Women’s Half Marathon in Madrid.
Daba ran 21,097 meters in 1:11:17, followed by the Germany-based Ethiopian Melak Yisak, who covered the race in 1:15:43.
More than 2,000 women participated in the race, which took place in the rain.
Meanwhile, Bahrain’s other runners Viola Jepchumba and Rose Chelimo were respectively second and third at Valencia’s International Half Marathon held in Valencia, in Spain.
Viola completed the race in 1:08:23, followed by compatriot Rose in 1:09:46.
It is worth mentioning that Lishan Dula had recently won the Buenos Aires International Marathon in Argentina clocking 2:39:14.
She bested Almaz Negede Fekade who crossed the finish line 3 minutes 13 seconds behind her. While Adela Barrios came in third at 02:48:49.
