?Bahrain is confirmed to participate in four major international sports events later this year, the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) announced yesterday (March 19).
The kingdom will first compete in the Second Youth Olympic Games, scheduled to take place in Nanjing, in China, from August 16 to 28.
They then head to Incheon, in South Korea for the 17th Asian Games, to be held from September 19 to October 4.
Late on, Bahrain will travel to Doha for the Second GCC Beach Games from October 20 to 26, while their fourth and last appearance will be at the Fourth Asian Beach Games in Phuket, in Thailand from November 14 to 21.
The announcement was made after the meeting of BOC acting general secretary Abdulrahman Askar with delegations’ heads and their deputies.
Askar and the delegations officials reviewed latest arrangements in regards to their respective teams’ overseas participation, noting the committee’s keenness to ensure active participation in all future sports competitions.
He urged them to learn and benefit from their past experiences and build on the successes they have achieved, while avoiding the disadvantages, if any.
Askar affirmed that the selection of the delegations embodies the trust of the BOC board of directors, headed by Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in this group of national cadres who proved their worth in the field of management in different sporting events in which BOC had taken part over the past years.
The BOC acting general secretary urged them to begin their preparations early and seek provision of ideal environment for the teams in order to achieve their aspirations and accomplish best results to promote Bahrain sports reputation on the world map.
Present at the meeting were  BOC technical director Lounes Madene, besides delegations heads – Fahad Al Khathlan (2nd Youth Olympic Games), Hamad Buhiji (2nd GCC Beach Games) and Mohammed Al Ghunaim (4th Asian Beach Games).
Deputies were BOC International Affairs executive coordinator Mohammed Al Zayed (GCC Beach Games), Corporate Communication executive coordinator Fajer Jassim (17th Asian Games) and Maryam Mardana (Youth Olympics).
