The Kingdom of Bahrain has taken the initial steps to select the sports teams that will represent the nation at the upcoming 18th Asian Games in Indonesia.

Askar told the federations that the main purpose of Bahrain taking part at Jakarta Games is to achieve outstanding results, and urged each federation willing to compete at the games to set up a training programme for its respective teams in an attempt to prepare them for this challenging continental gathering.
Both parties also had talks on technical terms and criteria on which the selection of athletes is based on.
BOC Arab and International Relations manager Fajer Jassim made a visual presentation on the games rules and venues of competition, in addition to the number of sports to be include at the games.
Another meeting will take place soon, in which each participating federation will submit its technical programme and will be handed over to the technical advisory committee – which in turn – will prepare a final report to BOC board for approval.
The 18th edition of the games, scheduled to run from August 18 to September 2, will see 45 countries expected to compete in over 50 sports.
For the first time in the Asian Games history, two cities will host the Games: Jakarta, the national capital city, and Palembang, the capital city of its South Sumatra province.
