?Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa asserted the committee will march on to achieve more achievements in the field of sports.
Joined by Youth and Sports Affairs minister Ayman Tawfiq Almoayyed, BOC board members and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant secretary general and BOC secretary general Abdulrahman Askar, had a meeting with BOC staff, in which he thanked them for hard work in achieving the kingdom’s aspirations.
Shaikh Nasser commended the efforts of the Bahraini athletes in the so-called ‘Year of Gold Only’, an initiative announced by Shaikh Nasser to further boost Bahrain in the field of sports by setting up the country’s finest athletes to capture gold for Bahrain at regional, continental and international competitions.
“Since I was given the honor by His Majesty the King to head the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and later to become president of the Bahrain Olympic Committee in 2009, our nation has made strides of successes with Bahrain’s finest athletes making history as they excelled on the international level,” said Shaikh Nasser.
“I am also proud to witness an exceptional award won by the Bahrain Olympic Committee as the best NOC at the 2016 ANOC awards ceremony, which was a result of the hard work by all of our staff”.
“Now it’s time for a new leader – with an equal or even higher commandership efficiency – to take over the presidency of the committee, and take it to new horizons of excellence,” said Shaikh Nasser.
The BOC president stressed that the committee has showed great abilities in overcoming several challenges over the past years, thanks to its human competencies and high capabilities.
“The next stage is full of challenges, which should generate within everyone the multiplier energy of creativity and brilliance for a more distinguished future,” added Shaikh Nasser.
Shaikh Nasser also noted the tireless efforts of the outgoing BOC secretary general Askar and his significant contributions towards the progress made by the committee since 2013 when he was appointed as its secretary general.
The meeting concluded with Askar presenting a memento to Shaikh Nasser, in addition to the 2018 annual report of the BOC, which includes a variety of activities and programmes conducted by the committee.
Meanwhile, Shaikh Nasser toured the photo exhibition produced by the committee at the Youth and Sports Affairs Ministry’s premises, featuring the successes and achievements under his presidency between 2009 and 2019.
