The Kingdom of Bahrain tomorrow (Monday) is hosting the first meeting of the sport judging committee, which was formed earlier this year.
The committee was made at a proposal of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and Bahrain Olympic Committee president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, in an attempt to create an new environment that boosts fair sport competition.
The meeting, to be held tomorrow, will be attended by committee members – BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar, as well as general secretaries of national Olympic Committees in the GCC Mohammed Al Kammali (UAE), Mohammed Al Meshel (Saudi Arabia) and Mishal Al Khalifa (Qatar).
Mishal Al Khalifa was the first to touch down on Bahrain, while representatives of the UAE and Saudi Arabia are due to arrive tomorrow morning along with their respective administrative delegations.
Askar said five legal advisers will be also present at the meeting to develop regulations to prepare the initial stages of this initiative, tasked at Solving sport disputes in the GCC.
Askar noted that Shaikh Nasser’s initiative to form this committee will form a big leap in boosting joint GCC sport action, adding that the initiative clearly reflects the vision of Shaikh Nasser to lift sports movement in the Gulf region.
Askar said the BOC already formed a full team to host the meeting, which will bring a number of recommendations and decisions aimed to set up legal points in order to start applying this initiative.
