The Kingdom of Bahrain has stepped up its preparations to host the Eighth GCC Regatta from March 2 to 5 at the Bahrain Sailing Club in Zallaq.
The annual competition will bring together some of the Gulf region’s best sailors while vying for victories in their respective categories.
Meanwhile, Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar emphasized the committee’s support to the BMSA in hosting the upcoming event.
This came during Askar’s meeting with BMSA vice-president Noaman Al Hassan and general secretary Sameer Shuwaiter at the committee premises in Seef.
Both parties also reviewed the plans and programmes of the association for 2016, as well as the association’s strategy to promote its investments and diversify the sources of income.
Askar said the BOC would spare no effort in offering all means of assistance and contributions to ensure the success of this event.
He also commended the efforts of the association, headed by Shaikh Khalifa bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, to develop maritime sports in Bahrain.
On his part, Al Hassan expressed appreciation and gratitude to the BOC for its continued support to the association plans and asserted Bahrain’s readiness to embrace this major regional sailing championship.
