?The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) has finalized its preparations for this week’s Olympic Solidarity and the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Regional Forum for West, Central and South Asian National Olympic Committees.
The event, to be held in Bahrain for the first time, is scheduled to take place from May 6 to 9 and will be organised in cooperation with the OCA. It will be attended by 54 officials from 26 countries, in addition to five representatives from the Olympic Solidarity Committee and three from the OCA.
Some of the highlights of this forum will be discussions of the Olympic Solidarity programmes, as well as a series of meetings with the organizing committees of three major games to be held this year.
They are the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, Korea, from September 19 to October 4, the Second Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing, China, from August 16 to 28, and the Fourth Asian Beach Games in Phuket, Thailand, from November 14 to 21.
Meanwhile, delegations started arriving yesterday, with the first being representatives from Tajikistan. The delegations of Iran and Uzbekistan are scheduled to touch on Bahrain today (May 5), while the remaining delegations will be reaching the kingdom tomorrow.
With only one day left for the forum, the BOC has named its organizing committee, headed by Nawaf Abdulrahman. It also consists of five standing committees, with the Media Committee being head by Mohammed Lori. It includes members Hassan Ali, Ali Al Halwachi, Rami Ayoob, Jalil Al Kooheji.
The Accommodation and Transportations Committee comprises Hamad Al Baker, Fai Buallai, Aisha Burshaid, Mohammed Al Jazzaf, Abdulrazzaq Zainuddin, Mohammed Qamber and Khalid Fuad.
Fajer Jassim is heading the Public Relations and Events Committee, which also has Yaqoub Buhaza, Khalid Haji, Hassan Juma and Asma Al Kaabi.
The Administration Affairs and Logistics Committee is headed by Mariam Mardana, while Maryam Al Madi and Fatma Saqer are members. Mohammed Khonji was named head of the Information Technology Committee, which also includes Mohammed Bashayreh.
