?Preparations are in full swing for the GCC Beach Games in Qatar, the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) announced yesterday (January 19).
The games is scheduled to take place from April 3 to 16 in Doha, where the Kingdom will be sending six disciplines.
Spearheading Bahrain at the two-week event are beach football, beach volleyball, beach handball, basketball (3×3), open water swimming and sailing.
To follow up Bahrain’s progress ahead of the games, the Bahrain Olympic Committee had its first meeting with representatives of the six sports associations taking part.
Both parties discussed technical points and stressed the importance of harnessing all efforts to ensure an honorable appearance in the second edition of the games, which made debut in Bahrain in 2010.
The Bahrain delegation management also requested the sports associations officials to submit their respective lists of delegations members in order to finalise their arrangements before traveling for the games.
Attending the meeting from the BOC side were Arab Public Relations head and delegation deputy chef de mission Mohammed Al Zayed, Technical Director Lounes Madene and Treasurer Hasan Al Khaja.
On the other hand, Salman Bado (volleyball), Jassim Al Fardan (handball), Noaman Al Hassan (Maritime Sports), Abdulla Khalil (basketball) and Ahmed Al Amer (football) were in attendance on behalf of their respective sports associations.
