The Bahrain Athletics Association (BAA) has started its preparations to host the next West Asian Track and Field Athletics Championships, it was announced yesterday (April 15).
During his meeting with BAA vice-president and West Asian Athletics Federation general secretary Mohammed Jalal, Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) acting general secretary Abdulrahman Askar was briefed on the association preparations to host this event, scheduled to take place next month.
Askar was also informed on needs of the BAA in order to ensure smooth conduct of the championship, and discussed various administrative and technical topics. Askar asserted the committee’s willingness to provide all forms of support and create the best conditions which would contribute to a special hosting of this continental gathering.
The BOC acting general secretary showed confidence in the ability of the BAA to provide all forms of success to the upcoming competitions, based on its expertise in organizing various national and international athletics events.
On his part, Jalal extended gratitude to the committee for its continued support to all sports associations, in general, and to the athletics association, in specific, in hosting different sporting events in the kingdom.
Jalal also thanked BOC board of directors and its president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for the outstanding efforts and the significant role in supporting the national sports federations, which has contributed to achieving various impressive results on the regional and international levels.
