?Representatives from the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) recently attended the OS/OCA Regional Forum in Muscat.
International Relations director Fajer Jassim and Olympic Solidarity manager Maryam Mardana were among 21 National Olympic Committees (NOC) members from South and West Asia, who attended this two-day forum.
Forum organisers the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) and Olympic Solidarity (OS) highlighted the theme “Gender Equality” as one of its key subjects at the forum.
Ten out of 21 NOCs from South and West Asia have sent 12 female delegates to the two-day forum. Besides Bahrain, NOCs of Afghanistan, Iran, Maldives, Palestine, Lebanon, Yemen, Oman, Sri Lanka and India were present at the forum.
OS Online Platform, Athletes Programmes, Coaches Programmes, Financial Management, NOC Management, Promotion of Olympic Values Programmes, updates from the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games Organising Committee and NOC services department of Tokyo 2020 were among subjects brought up at the event.
Honorary Life Vice President Wei Jizhong said the forum highlighted Asia’s determination and resolve to accomplish one of the important targets within Agenda 2020, namely to promote and achieve gender equality. Wei concluded his speech by thanking the Oman Olympic Committee for being a great host of the forum.
The forum was declared open by Oman Olympic Committee Chairman Sheikh Khalid Al Zubair, who welcomed delegations from 20 NOCs from two zones – West and South Asia – and said the region would benefit greatly from the regional forum.
OCA Honorary Life Vice President Wei Jizhong, OCA Director General and Technical Director Husain Al Musallam, Olympic Solidarity’s Head of the Athletes’ Unit, Olivier Niamkey, and Oman Olympic Committee Secretary General Taha Al Kishri also attended today’s forum.
