This was announced following a joint meeting at the committee premises in Seef District. It was attended by the BOC Sports Affairs Acting Executive Director Hisham Al Balooshi and Bahrain Handball Association president Ali Isa Isaaqi.
Isaaqi said that the BHA had already submitted its request to have the next Asian Handball Championship on home soil, while similar proposals were presented by their Iranian, Qatari and Emirati counterparts.
He expressed appreciation for the support offered by the BOC, headed by Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, to all sports federations in Bahrain which had contributed to achieving many outstanding results at all levels.
Both parties also discussed the budget allocation for the Bahrain women’s handball team at the First GCC Championship in Kuwait next month, and their training camp which comes ahead of the event, as well other issues related to handball.
On his part, Al Balooshi expressed the BOC keenness to provide all means of backing in order to help the sports associations fulfill its objectives, and lauded the junior team winning the bronze medal in last month’s Second Asian Indoor Games in Nanjing, in China.
The Asian Championship, to be organised for the 16th time, will also serves as a qualifier for the next World Championship finals that will take place in Qatar in 2015.
Only the top three from this continental competition will go through to the next edition of the World Championship.
Bahrain’s best achievement was coming second in the 2010 tournament in Beirut, where they secured a place in the 2011 World Championship finals in Sweden.
