?Bahrain’s national badminton team made history at the sixth edition of the Arab Championship, which concluded in Bizerte, in Tunisia recently.
The nationals clinched  4 medals in total, including a gold each in the teams and doubles events, while Jaffer Ebrahim and Adnan Ihsan took the singles silver and bronze medals, respectively, in this 10-day regional tournament.
The event saw more than 40 players from some of the region’s best badminton nations, including entrants from Egypt, Algeria, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and host nation Tunisia.
Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, member of the Bahrain Olympic Committee and the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, and chairwoman of the women’s sport committee, gave a warm welcome to members of the team on return from Tunisia.
She congratulated the team on this honorable outcome, and commended the efforts of the Bahrain Badminton and Squash Federation, headed by Dr Sawsan Taqawi, in preparing the players for this challenging championship.
On her part, Taqawi expressed pride and pleasure for this achievement, which would have never been possible without the continued support of Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, His Majesty’s Representative for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, and BOC president.
