The Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) has started presenting cash awards to sports achievers for the remaining of 2018, which was largely known as the ‘Gold Year Only’.
BOC’s sports federations directorate has already sent a circular to all national sports federations, , requesting them to send data of all their athletes with medals won in different approved competitions.
In an official statement, BOC secretary general Mohammed Al Nusuf said the committee, as per directives of its president Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports first deputy chairman, has began the procedures of granting the money prizes to those achievers.
“Presenting these awards to our heroes underlines the keenness of our leadership and its commitment to honor its athletes and appreciate their achievements in a number of occasions,” said Al Nusuf.
Al Nusuf added that this initiative is in line with the backing strategy of Shaikh Khalid to the country’s athletes in appreciation to their efforts and eagerness to raise the Bahrain flag high at regional, continental and international championships.
