UncategorisedAskar vows to develop table tennis in Bahrain

?Bahrain Olympic Committee general secretary Abdulrahman Askar said the committee will provide all means of support for the International Table Tennis Federation’s (ITTF) Development Centre, should the federation accept Bahrain to be the premises of this centre.
This statement was announced during Askar’s meeting with ITTF vice-president and African Table Tennis Federation President Khalid Al Salhi and ITTF Development, Education and Training Department director Polona Cehovin, in the presence of Bahrain Table Tennis Association (BTTA) representatives.
They were BTTA president Shaikha Hayat bint Abdulaziz Al Khalifa, vice-president Ali Al Madeh, board members Ibrahim Siyadi and Mohammed Jaffer and Palestinian Table Tennis Association vice-president Radwan Al Sharif, who is also in Bahrain to head his country’s delegation for the ongoing Bahrain Junior and Cadet Open Championship.
Both Askar and Polona had talks about the possibility of establishing the ITTF Centre in Bahrain, as the former asserted the BOC keenness to back this project and support it with all necessary facilities to ensure its smooth operating.
Askar also noted that the centre would be hosting a number of training courses, workshops, sessions for all table tennis representatives from around the world in order to achieve the aspirations of the ITTF.
On her part, Polona said she was pleased with the outstanding organization of the Bahrain Junior and Cadets Open Championship and the amazing facilities available to host this international event for the eighth successive year.
She said the ITTF admires the BTTA for its efforts in spreading and developing the game in the region, and expressed gratitude to the BOC and its contributions in supporting table tennis association in Bahrain.
