?Bahrain Olympic Committee (BHA) acting general secretary Abdulrahman Askar yesterday (Jan. 22) stressed that the committee will harness all its abilities to contribute to make the upcoming 16th Asian Men’s Handball Championship a success.
The event, which also acts a qualifier for next year’s World Cup in Doha, will take place in the Kingdom of Bahrain from January 25 to February 6 with the participation of 12 teams from all over the continent.
Askar’s statement was announced after his meeting with Bahrain Handball Association (BHA) president and organizing committee of the championship Ali Ishaqi, during which both parties reviewed the needs of the organizing committee.
Ishaqi gave detailed presentation on the working committees’ latest preparations to have this prestigious continental competition in Bahrain.
Arrangements for the opening ceremony, the VIP stand installation and the testimonial match for former Bahrain national team captain Saeed Johar have been all completed.
Ishaqi expressed thanks and appreciation to the BOC and president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa for the financial and morale support presented to the organizing committee, which has significantly played a major part in ensuring smooth preparation for the upcoming event.
The meeting was also attended by BOC sports affairs acting executive director Abduljalil Asad, Administrative and Financial Affairs executive director Khalifa Salmeen, BHA general secretary Khalid Al Najem and BHA board member Abdulla Al Asfoor.
