Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar visited the training of Bahrain’s under-23 football team who are preparing for the Sixth GCC Under-23 Championship to be held in Doha from August 26 to September 5.
Upon arrival, Askar was welcomed by Bahrain Football Association vice-president for financial affairs Ahmed Al Nuaimi and BFA vice-president for technical affairs Ali Al Buainain.
Both parties discussed the future needs of the Olympic team in order to prepare the suitable environment for them ahead of the upcoming event and achieve the aspired results, especially that the present team consists of several promising football talents.
Askar added that Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and BOC president Shaikh Nasser is keen to provide all means of support to the team who won the competition last year.
Shaikh Nasser also directed to form a special committee after the victory, tasked at supporting the team and following up its progress in an attempt to build on their successes.
Askar said he was pleased with the efforts of the association in order to back the under-23 team and enable them to compete in coming football tournaments, and stressed the eagerness of the BOC to stand by this group of young players and help them excel on the international level.
