?Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) acting general secretary Abdulrahman Askar today (April 19) will head the Bahrain side at the 80th meeting of the GCC National Olympic Committees Presidents’ Executive Committee in Kuwait.
Today’s meeting, scheduled to commence at 11am at the Regency Hotel, will be chaired by Kuwait Olympic Committee general secretary Obaid Zayed Al Anezi with several significant topics to be highlighted.
They included the joint action bylaws in the field of sport, as well as the regulations for the GCC Beach Games and the GCC Games.
The meeting agenda will also feature discussions on the recommendation submitted by the Qatar Olympic Committee on the withdrawal of three athletics federations from the next GCC Championship, as well as the consequences of the 32 GCC Clubs Volleyball Championship cancellation.
Other issues to be reviewed today include Yemen’s interest in joining the sports games system, besides the cooperation between the GCC nations and Jordan and Morocco in the same field, and reviewing awards of the GCC Sport Organsing Committee and GCC Sport and Environment.
In addition to Askar, the Executive Committee also consists of Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed Al Meshel, Mohammed Al Kamali of the UAE, Oman’s Taha Al Kishri and Mehsal Al Khalifa of Qatar.
Meanwhile, the Coordination and Follow Up Committee meeting was held yesterday when it submitted its recommendations on to the GCC National Olympic Committees Presidents.
The meeting was be chaired by Bahrain Olympic Committee Sport advisor Abduljalil Asad, and attended by members Adel bin Nikhi of Kuwait, Bader Al Mansoor of Saudi Arabia, Oman’s Salem Al Masroori of Oman, Sultan bin Fares of the UAE and Qatar’s Tareq Al Abdulla.
Yesterday’s meeting was followed by a dinner banquet by the Kuwait Olympic Committee in honour of the General Secretaries of the GCC.
The 80th meeting of the GCC National Olympic Committees Presidents’ Executive Committee members is scheduled for today (April 19), while the 28th meeting of the GCC National Olympic Committees Presidents’ meeting is scheduled for Monday.
It will be followed by the awarding ceremony to honour winners of the GCC Sport Organising Committees Award and the Sport and Environment Award.
