The Assistant secretary-general of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports (SCYS) and general secretary of the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC), Abdulrahman Sadiq Askar, praised the accomplishment achieved by the national Jiu-Jitsu team as player Ali Monfaredi obtained the gold medal of the 77 kg weight category while player Sina Monfaradi won the bronze medal of the 65kn weight category in the first Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship which recently concluded in Turkmenistan. A total of 22 Asian countries took part in the event which was organized by the international Federation of Jiu-Jitsu.

Askar visited the Bahrain Self-defense Association (BSA) to receive the champions in the presence of the new president of the BSA, Eng. Ahmad Khayyat and BSA vice president Omar Bokmal.

Askar conveyed to champions greetings and congratulations of  Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the SCYS, President of BOC on the achievement. Askar praised the continental accomplishment achieved by the players which, he said, reflects prestigious position the game enjoys in Bahrain after the Bahraini players had a gold record in a very short time since this sport was established in Bahrain.

He added that this victory was a source of pride and was an extension of a series of achievements and successes of our players in all previous tournaments. He explained that this new achievement would not have been possible without studied planning and support given to players by the BSA presided by Al Kayyat.

Askar stressed that all achievements by all federations especially the Jiu-Jitsu one are highly appreciated by Shaikh Nasser  stressing the BOC support to the BSA and all Bahraini federations to continue the march for victories of the Bahraini sport in general and martial arts in particular.
