Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar asserted the importance of bringing success to this year’s edition of the Olympic Day, commencing tomorrow (Saturday).
The 2016 Olympic Day, organized by the BOC over the next 10 days, gets underway with the first of five walkathons taking place at different parts of Bahrain.
As a build up to this year’s event, Askar took a closer look at the final preparations in his meeting with chairman of the organising committee Hasan Abdullatif and other committee members.
Askar commended the efforts of the organising committee in fulfilling their tasks and urged the organisers to keep up the pace to live up to everyone’s aspirations in bringing a very successful and tremendous Olympic Day this year.
The 2016 Olympic Day, which aims to promote the Olympic values, will see the inaugural walkathon tomorrow at the Northern Governorate from 4.15pm at Budaiya Coast Park.
Three days later, the Capital Governorate will host the second walkathon near Fatima Kanoo Mousque and the Bahrain Map roundabout.
The following walkathon is organized by the Southern Governorate and will take place on May 21 from Riffa Views walkway.
The fourth and penultimate walkathon is scheduled for May 24 from Dohat Arad in Muharraq, while the fifth and last race will take place on the concluding day of the Olympic Day at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, were other sets of activities are also lined up. All walkathons are set for 4.15pm start.
