?Bahrain Olympic Committee acting general secretary Abdulrahman Askar yesterday (OCT. 31) attended the final day of the Arab Cycling Championships near the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir.Accompanied by BOC financial and administrative affairs executive director Jehad Khalfan and sports advisor Jalil Assad, Askar honoured the winners in the team event during the prize-giving ceremony, where the Algerian team received first-place trophy and the gold medals.Morocco were presented with the runners-up award and the silver medals, while Egypt rounded off the podium as they collected third place prize, along with the bronze medals.Following the awarding ceremony, Askar congratulated the Algerian team on winning this category race during this year’s annual regional championship, and wished others progress in future events.Askar also noted the advanced levels of several Arab teams competing in the championships, which underlines the support offered to this discipline in their respective countries and well-planned strategy to expand cycling in the region.He thanked the organizing committee and its chairman Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, praising the outstanding organization of the tournament well as the efforts made in order to ensure this event is a great success.
