?Supreme Council for Youth and Sports deputy general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee general secretary Abdulrahman Askar will be attending the General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) in Prague, the Czech Republic.
The General Assembly is scheduled to take place on November 2 and 3 at the Hilton Prague Hotel, where more than 1,000 delegates – including representatives from all 206 National Olympic Committees (NOC) as well as representatives from the IOC, International Federations and upcoming Organising Committees – are due to attend.
Askar, who arrived in the Czech Republic capital, will be joined at this meeting by BOC projects director Lounes Madene.
The ANOC Awards 2017 will also take place on November 2 and there will be a number of other meetings including the ANOC Executive Council and ANOC Commissions and Working Group meetings.
Under the provisions of the Constitution of ANOC, the General Assembly is the supreme governing body of the Association of National Olympic Committees.
The member of NOCs are entitled to participate in the General Assembly, represented by their delegates, in addition to the members of the Executive Council of ANOC.
The Ordinary General Assembly meets each year while the General Assembly elects the President and the Senior Vice-President every four years, as well as the members of the Executive Council. The ANOC aims to strengthen the relationships between the NOCs and the Olympic Family for the benefit of the entire Olympic Movement.
