?Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) acting general secretary Abdulrahman Askar was all praise for the 2014 Formula One Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix, which was held in Bahrain over the weekend.
Askar followed by the Formula One event from Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil, where he attended the Organising Committee meetings of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
In a statement issued after the Formula One race, Askar expressed pride for Bahrain hosting this major international attraction, and hailed the unprecedented attendance this year which reflects the outstanding success of the event.
Askar also said the Bahrain Grand Prix promotes the kingdom as the home of motorsport in the Middle East, and further boosts its reputation on the world sport map as one of the favourite nations hosting different significant sporting competitions.
The BOC acting general secretary said having this year’s F1 race for the first time at night added more excitement and entertainment to the race, as the curtain fell down on one of the most successful Formula One event staged at the Bahrain International Circuit.
Askar said that positive influence of this year’s F1 race, noting that this major international phenomena has contributed to highlighting the civil face of the Kingdom of Bahrain and promoted its economic and media gains.
