?Supreme Council for Youth and Sports deputy general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar yesterday stressed the committee’s support to the Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities in appreciation to its prominent role in bringing new athletes with disabilities and involve them in different types of sports.
This statement was announced at Askar’s meeting with Bahrain Sports Federation for Disabilities president Shaikh Mohammed bin Daij Al Khalifa at the committee premises in Seef.
Askar commended the efforts of the federation, which paid off tremendously at the Rio Paralympic Games this summer in Brazil where Fatima Abdulrazzaq Safar rose above all to clinch the shot put competition (F-53) gold medal.
The BOC general secretary asserted the importance to work hard in the next period to prepare a group of Bahrain’s elite athletes for different overseas sports competition, an extended the committee’s keenness to provide the federation with all that would contribute to achieving its aspirations.
On his part, Shaikh Mohammed extended his appreciation and gratitude to the Bahrain Olympic Committee and its president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, and Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman.
