?Supreme Council for Youth and Sports assistant general secretary and Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar affirmed the committee’s support to eGames as per recommendations submitted by the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports to develop mind sports.
This was announced following Askar meeting with Bahrain Mind Sports and E-Sports Federation president Ali Shuwaiter as well as board member and head of eGames Committee Ali Sharfi at the committee premises in Seef.
They pair also introduced Abdulhakam Kareen, who became the first Bahraini to enter Guinness World Records after earning 1691 trophy platinum points in e-Games, as well as Sayed Hashim Ahmed, winner of the best Middle East player in 2017 and winner of the 2018 Confederations Cup.
Askar welcomed the federation representatives and commended the efforts of the federation to develop mind sports and eGames.
He congratulated Kareem on his achievement, which further boosts the kingdom of Bahrain’s reputation on the world sport map. Askar also expressed pride for the victories of Ahmed that underlines the nation’s abilities in the field of eGames, and wished both the players progress.
Askar extended his keenness to provide all that would help in the development of eGames in Bahrain, a section that was recently included as part of the Bahrain Mind Sports Federation.
On his part, Shuwiter thanked BOC, headed by Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, for its continued support to all national sports federations, especially the mind sports federation, and affirmed his federation’s commitment to focus on eGames in the coming period to develop this part of sport and build a solid foundation of players who can spearhead Bahrain at international challenges.
