?Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) acting general secretary Abdulrahman Askar asserted his support to the Bahrain Maritime Sports Association in organizing the Asian Optimist Championship next month.
The championship will take place at the Bahrain Sailing Club from March 28 to 6 and is under the patronage of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports chairman and BOC president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
This came during Askar’s meeting with Bahrain Maritime Sports Association general secretary Noaman Al Hassan at the BOC premises in Seef, where the former affirmed the BOC keenness to offer all that would help the association in hosting this continental event.
Askar lauded the efforts of the association in preparation for the upcoming championship, which promises to bring 21 countries with several rising participants in this category, which is open for young sailors.
Askar stressed the importance of putting together all efforts and establishing positive coordinating between the committee and the associations in order to provide an ideal environment that would contribute to the success of the event.
On his part, Al Hassan made a presentation on all the steps undertaken by the association in preparation for the championship, and also gave a briefing on the opening ceremony programme, featuring a variety of activities.
Al Hassan extended his gratitude to the BOC, headed by Shaikh Nasser, for its continued support to the national sports associations in general, and the maritime sports, in specific.
He also praised the efforts exerted by the committee in an attempt to bring another major continental sailing competition to the kingdom, and wished them progress.
