?Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar expressed pride in choosing Manama to host the Secretariat headquarters of the Congress of the Asian Sports Press Union (ASPU).
Askar said the decision is a clear evidence of Bahrain’s outstanding reputation in this field, and also asserted the committee’s willingness to play a significant role in backing this organisation.
This statement was announced during Askar’s meeting with officials from the ASPU, led by president Faisal Al Qanai, in the presence of treasurer Yousef Barjawi, assistant general secretary Mohammed Qassim, board member Adanan Al Sayed and Kuwaiti journalist Zaid Al Sarbal.
Askar noted that the Kingdom of Bahrain enjoys a significant number of prominent sport media officials, which promises to boost the movement of the union in the continent, and expressed the kingdom’s keenness to provide any means of support to ensure its progress.
On their part, ASPU delegation extended their appreciation to the BOC general secretary for the warm reception and hospitality, and hailed the committee’s plan to back the union in order to promote its development process in Asia.
The meeting concluded with Al Qanai presenting a commemorative shield to Askar in appreciation to his contributions to sport media in Bahrain.
